Product Description

Cordyceps is a highly prized mushroom in Chinese herbology - and quite a strange phenomenon in nature. The mushroom lives in a unique symbotic relationship with a specific type of caterpillar known only to the high altitude region of the Himalayas. A spore of Cordyceps must land directly between the eyes of the caterpillar, then begins to spread its mycelia into the worm, eventually completely consuming it, but retaining the same shape. The resulting body of the mushroom exactly resembles the worm, yet is completely vegetarian. Then the Cordyceps grows a 'fruiting body' off of what was the head of the caterpillar, and releases its spores to begin another cycle. Nowadays, due to the extreme rarity of wild cordyceps, strains of the mycelia are propagated in controlled environments, creating a more abundant and affordable product, but also retaining its unique fungal characteristics. Wild Cordyceps is ultra expensive now, and the control-grown variety makes this precious health food available to the mass market. One would spend thousands of dollars for a small amount of wild Cordyceps. If a company is selling Cordyceps at a comparative price and claiming it is wild, they are not telling the truth. Cordyceps is prized in Asia as a slightly Yang Jing tonic herb, benefiting the immune system, particularly lung immunity. We provide you with 90 grams of high quality 8:1 control-grown Cordyceps, a great bargain.

  1. Mild Flavor 5 Star Review

This was a pleasant surprise. It's so mild in flavor, it seems to enhance other, more bitter herbs. I love it with Reishi.
